Shillong Teer

The Maghalaya traditional  game of archery is played with arrows,which Hindi and bangla name is"Teer".In the State of Meghalaya,this word takes up the meaning of a traditiona popular betting sports/game that allow people to win thousands of Rs in one day afteernoon.The rules of te game/sports are quite easy.There are fifty archers,each archer have to throw 30 arrows at a Aim.People have to calculation the last two digits,of the total amount of arrows/teershitt the target.For example if 795 arrows/teers hitt the targets,there were winining digit is 95.The people/player who get the right,takes home all the money that a particular stall has earned fromselling the lottery tickets that day.This is holds on everyday without holidays and government holidays.

Shillong Teer Game is a very popular archery/arrow based traditional game.This shillong archery based game legalised under the meghalaya amusement and betting tex (Amendment) Act 1982.The game ticket are available at the some state authorised vendors.At least over 5600 vendors operate from monday to saturday between 10:00AM to 3:00PM across the maghalaya state.Those willing to participate in shillong archery game are asked to predict the last two digit of the total (00 to 99) numbers of arrows that would hit the target during the archery match number.Shillong teer player can place thier bet on number between 00 to 99.

Shillong Teer/Archary Game History:-

The archary/teer game of Maghalaya  is a very popular traditional archary/teer based game.This game completely depands on believes and luck.In the State of Maghalya,Shillong teer as "Thoh-Tim" local languege.The words "Teer" stand with "arrow".


How To Play Shillong Teer Game:-

The shillong teer game is played of two rounds.Everyday different group of archer come to shillong polo ground from different part of the State to play the game.Among those groups,only three archer group were selected for arrow shooting to the fixed target.Each Group of archer were 20 archer.For per round 1000 arrows were allowed to hitt the fixed target.Total 50/60 archer were take part in the arrow shooting.After the finished of Shillong Teer Association fixed time the arrow shooting were stoped by the teer game authority.

Then the total number of target hitted arrow were counted.If the total number of arrow were counted 874 out of 1000 arrows,so that the result would be the last two digit 74.Same process were repeated for the second round.Shillong teer game played almost every day without holidays or sunday across the State of Maghalaya.
